For the Volkswagen Group, we consolidate all battery cell activities; from establishing international factory operations to advancing cell technology, vertical integration along the entire value chain, and recycling. Our cells not only enable the mobility of the future but also create new perspectives as large-scale storage systems for the energy grid.
PowerCo was founded on July 7, 2022, as a European stock corporation (Société Européenne) in Salzgitter. Currently, three gigafactories are under construction in Salzgitter, Valencia/Spain, and St. Thomas/Canada. Together, they will produce up to 200 gigawatt-hours per year, sufficient for more than 2 million electric vehicles
